Enrichment Activities
Enrichment provides extra stimuli for our pets, to improve their psychological and physiological well-being. Even though dogs are domesticated, they are still animals living in a human world and sometimes it can just get downright boring. They need a chance to be dogs and an outlet for their natural behavior. Most dogs enjoy having something to do and there are many things we can do for them that are so simple and even free. Different enrichment activities can stop many behavior problems, because they give dogs outlets and let them use their natural instincts for less destructive games that we have created for them. Whatever the problem is, there may be an enrichment activity that can help. CCS loves to integrate all kinds of enrichment into out clients' lives, especially for meals. One of the classics is to toss those food bowls and start getting creative with feeding time! There are many interactive toys and feeders on the market, but also many that you can make at home!
Enrichment opportunities are endless: quiet time, story time, busy boxes, doggie play dates, massage, lure courses, flirt poles, agility. nose work, puzzle feeders, interactive toys, new sights & smells, meeting new people & animals, dig boxes, impromptu agility courses on walks, sniff walks, anything novel & new in the environment, like swimming pools, snow, the beach & even a hose!
